IMG_0606This past Saturday, the baseball community and friends and family gathered at McAlister’s Deli in Murfreesboro for Dinner with Devin, an event that raised funds for the Devin Cairo Benefit Fund.  The event was slated to begin at 5:00 pm, and as the hour approached, so did the community.  By 5:30 pm, every table in McAlister’s was full, and the lines to order were 7-8 deep.

By the end of the night, those who came raised over $3000 for the benefit fund.  T-shirts and bracelets were sold, and many people gave donations.  Also, many of the area high school baseball teams were represented in their support of a baseball brother.  Members of the Oakland baseball program cleared tables and refilled drinks throughout the night.

A sincere thank you to McAlister’s Deli and the employees who helped make this a great night for Devin and his family.

Oakland Football Donates to Devin Cairo Benefit Fund

photo1After finishing the season undefeated, and while they are in the midst of playoffs, the Oakland Football team turned its attention to a member of the Oakland family.  On Friday night, during the halftime of the first round playoff game against Wilson Central HS, Oakland Football donated $1000 to the Devin Cairo Benefit Fund. The funds were raised at a homecoming dance earlier in the year.

Oakland Endzone Club officers John Jones, Charlie Yates, Jeff Hawkins, and Jim Dibble made the presentation to Devin’s sister, Alexia.  Tyler Black, a member of the varsity team, is also on hand to make the presention.  Several members of the Oakland baseball team stood with Alexia as she accepted the donation.
